Silk was born in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. She was the daughter of Peter Silk, who was a professor and Ilkay Silk, a playwright and director, who also became famous for her acting. Anna recounts some of the earliest moments of her existence when she would go to watch her mother perform during play rehearsals. Silk was featured in a variety of commercials as a young child. She earned a Bachelors in Arts at St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas produced two of its first productions, Seven Menus, and The Kitchen. Silk was able to move from Toronto to Los Angeles in the decade immediately following 1999. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an acting workshop held in Los Angeles in 2007. The couple was married in the civil ceremony on the 10th of December 2009, after becoming engaged. On April 10, 2011, they renewed their vows at a Jewish ceremony held in Fredericton after she had converted to Judaism.
